Buffer zones are forest areas that surround the core area of the park. The areas are mixed usage areas, where wildlife and humans co-exist. In Bori Wildlife Sanctuary, much like Satpura National Park, they permit night patrolling in the buffer zone. Guests, a forest guard and a naturalist from Bori Safari Lodge go out on a patrolling activity searching for nocturnal species like India palm civets, small Indian civets, rusty spotted cat, jungle cat, porcupine and if lucky the big predators too. The buffer zone can also effectively be used for cycling and walking too
